Carew Tower Observation Deck

(Closed)

Chicago has the Sears Willis Tower Skydeck.

New York has the Empire State Building Observatory.

Seattle has The Space Needle.

Cincinnati has the Carew Tower Observation Deck.

Located on the 49th floor of the Carew Tower is Cincinnati's only dedicated skyscraper observation deck. The open-air viewing platform boasts 360-degrees views of the Queen City with every major landmark in sight. Unfortunately, it has been closed for years amid redevelopment and preservation efforts.

The Carew Tower redevelopment's tax-credit application includes plans to reopen the historic observation deck, according to records obtained by The Cincinnati Enquirer. And so, like Aragorn waiting to return to the Tower of Ecthelion, Cincinnati patiently waits for the day we can look out over our city once again.

“Not only was J. T. Carew one of the most modest and unostentatious men I ever knew, but was one of the most philanthropic. He delighted in doing good to others and making people happy. He loved Cincinnati and its institutions and was always willing to do more than his share for any good cause.”
